Seeing London On A Budget

Seeing London On A Budget

In recent years, travel has become far more affordable than ever before and you can often now pick up the likes of a Travelodge room for not much more than £20 a night, even in London! As such, seeing new places has become far more accessible to a much larger group of people than has previously been the case whilst given some fairly tough economic times over recent years, many are choosing to stay in the UK for a holiday rather than getting off abroad. Of course, with literally hundreds of different attractions and sights to see in our Capital city, London, there’s no wonder why visitors are flocking in their millions each year. Just because you can’t afford to splash the cash on top priced attractions however doesn’t mean you can’t have a great time as we wanted to bring you our brief guide to enjoying London on a budget!

Visit A Museum

London has the luxury of a whole host of historical connections and, with this in mind, plays host to a great range of museums, many of which are completely free. Whether you’re interested in world history and fancy a morning at the British Museum, fancy seeing dinosaurs at the Natural History museum or would much prefer to explore the minds of science at the Science Museum, combined with the V&A and the National Portrait Gallery for those a little more arty, you could easily fill three or four days simply across this small range of museums! See a full listing of free London museums here.

Take A Free Walking Tour

If you want to see as many sights as possible during a short stay, taking a free walking tour of London is one of the best options! Whilst these ‘free’ tours are generally run on a ‘pay what you think it’s worth’ basis, when compared to the expensive bus and boat tours which are run on a daily basis, they’re by far the most attractive way to see the city! Hosted by knowledgeable tour guides, on foot, you’ll get to see all of the hidden treasures which London has to offer which you simply wouldn’t be able to see by bus or boat! The company in question here, Free Tours Of London, runs three different free walking tours each week, with these being their Royal Tour, Old City Tour and nighttime Jack The Ripper Tour. Such tours really do offer something for everyone and when looking to do London on a budget, allow you to see the sights without having to splash the cash!

Spend The Afternoon In The Park

London has a number of famous parks which you can easily spend a whole afternoon enjoying yourself in, especially when the weather is nice, however our favourite has always been Hyde Park and it’s safe to say that’s the same for many! Whether enjoying a walk in the park with your partner, your family or a bunch of friends, Hyde Park offers a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere which makes you feel a million miles from the hustle and bustle of the big city! If you’re in London for a few days, a visit to the park during the middle of your trip can really help you to take a few hours out and recharge your batteries!

Visit Camden Markets

Whilst there’s nothing free about shopping, you don’t necessarily need to spend a penny to enjoy what Camden markets have to offer. Whether you yourself are into the ‘alternative’ lifestyle or simply want to spend the afternoon admiring the punks sat alongside the canal, you don’t need to spend a penny to take in the atmosphere in what we regard as one of London’s finest alternative hangouts!

Above all, you don’t need to spend a fortune to enjoy London and with a whole host of completely free attractions and tours available all year round, there really isn’t much to justify spending on expensive attractions! Whatever your budget, you can enjoy everything which London has to offer and, above all, take in the sights of this fabulous city!
